The Quintron DICES product line encompasses a full line of options, starting with a basic but full-featured intercom product: DICES Subsystem Multiplexer (Sub-MUX). This is in use at numerous operational sites providing hazardous-rated and weather-resistant voice communications services since 1998. DICES IV represents a clean-sheet 21st century design for a traditional hardware-based solution using the most advanced componentry and system architecture available today for mission-critical operation and command centers requiring the utmost reliability and wide-ranging features. DICES VoIP was introduced in 2005 providing a true net-centric solution with the same reliability and features as DICES IV. With these options, Quintron represents the leading total solution provider for today’s most critical voice operations.
A major customer base for Quintron DICES over many years has been rocket launch operations. In fact, almost every major rocket launch that occurs from the United States is supported by DICES. One of the most recent designs has expanded this basic mission architecture to allow shared audio services between two rocket programs. This includes automatic replication of databases such that either DICES VoIP central server can assume support for both programs. In addition, DICES VoIP IP Trunks provide direct IP-based audio circuit sharing over the Enterprise WAN, including both Florida and California coast operations. Other remote engineers and management log-in to missions directly from their desktop computers using the DICES VoIP Soft Client.
DICES IV provided a unique solution for Multi-Level Access for a major US Military Global Operations Center starting in 2006. A special operator station provides for direct access to secure telephone and computer audio with controls via touch screen monitor. This allows listening to multiple audio sources at different security levels while transmit/talk is automatically controlled to only a single level. The newest design for this approach will utilize DICES VoIP with multiple Gateways to share audio at different security levels across the entire connected community. All servers are supplied by Quintron with full STIG compliance.
The basic DICES VoIP architecture has now been expanded to include a true Red/Black solution. Using the basic Thin Client and touch screen interface, simple adding one additional equipment item, the Headset Combiner shown below, allows true Red/Black separation and control in a single-headset operation position. Packaging can be provided in numerous ways with this design for maximum flexibility and economy. Interoperability, as always, is included via the DICES VoIP Gateways.
An aspect of the DICES VoIP product uniquely suited to mobile command operations is superior SWAP (size, weight and power). Central architecture elements are Java-based software that can run on almost any server/computer platform, including in virtual environments along with other applications. User access can be provided via the DICES VoIP Soft Client, another Java-based client solution that can be loaded onto existing user computers used for other command purposes as well. Further extension of this concept eliminates virtually all additional wiring and related infrastructure as these components all utilize existing Ethernet connectivity. We even have a client solution that runs on iPhone and Android smart phones over Wi-Fi or cellular bands.
